Life After Caesar: The Age of Augustus
(the leader formerly known as Octavian) 44 BCE – Julius Caesar assassinated 43 BCE – Second triumvirate formed (Octavian, Lepidus, Marc Antony); Pompey’s son also given some responsibility 43-30 BCE – power struggle/civil war; eventually all but Octavian are dead or exiled 30 BCE – civil war ends and Octavian begins to rule Life

27 BCE – Octavian formally returns control of the Senate to the Republic and the Roman people
