Goal: Research Goal: Develop a sound conceptual, interdisciplinary research base for guiding practice and policy. What we’ve done: Developed Goodling FL Research Agenda Became a centralized link for research in family literacy – research briefs, current research, research documents and reports and presented papers. Developed an annotated bibliography

Goal: Policy Goal: Provide family literacy leadership through through communication and collaborative action with professional organizations, state education departments, policy makers and the general public. What we’ve done: Support advocacy efforts on behalf of program providers Focus on dissemination of information

Family Literacy Certificate ed.psu.edu/goodling-institute/certificate-programs/family-literacy-certificate Purpose: Provide an opportunity to enhance knowledge, skills, and credentials in the area of family literacy On-line 12-credit post-baccalaureate credit Offered through PSU’s World Campus Intended for early childhood educators, elementary teachers, counselors, family literacy teachers, staff, administrators, librarians, etc.

Introduces concept of family literacy Examines four traditional components of family literacy Examines professional development, collaboration and advocacy Examines diversity of families in programs Reviews importance of case management
