2 WHAT IS METEOROLOGY? METEOROLOGY IS AN OBSERVATIONAL SCIENCE, IT IS THE STUDY OF THE ATMOSPHERE,WEATHER,AND CLIMATE.

3 NATURE OF WORK MOST PEOPLE THINK WEATHER FORECASTING WHEN THEY THINK OF METEOROLOGY. BUT METEOROLOGIST ALSO STUDY RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT, THE DYNAMICS OF HURRICANES, O’ZONE LEVELS IN THE STRATAOSPHERE, AND SOME TEACH IN COLLEGE. BUT ALOT OF METEOROLOGIST ARE WEATHER FORECASTERS.

4 EARNINGS A BACHELORS DEGREE WITH NO EXPERIENCE $16,900-$21,000. A YEAR WITH A MASTERS DEGREE $21,000-$25,700. WITH A DOCTRATE $31,000-$37,200. THE AVERAGE SALARY OF A METEOROLOGIST EMPLOYED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS $44,700.

5 REQUIREMENTS THEY NEED A COLLEGE MAJOR IN METEOROLOGY .THE NORMAL MINIMUM IS A BACHELORS DEGREE IN METEOROLOGY.

6 HISTORY OF METEOROLOGY
METEOROLOGY WAS STARTED HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO .GALILEO INVENTED THE THERMOMETER IN 1593 AND TORRICELLI INVENTED THE BAROMETER IN 1643.

7 Work conditions Weather stations operate 24/7. This means that some meteorologist , often on a rotating basis have to work evenings and weekends.most weather stations are at airports but some are located in remote areas where they work alone.
