6 The Grandad of Apps

7 Fun Farmville Facts Farmville is an App most popular on Facebook.
Free to play. Players grow digital crops. Digital crops are harvested for digital money that is used to expand their farm. (i.e. cattle, more land, horses). Other options: For 10¢ you can purchase digital crops, for 20¢ you can buy cattle.

8 Wow! Farmville was created by an App development company named Zynga.
According to the Nov issue of Business Week, “60 million people played Farmville last month.” If 60 million bought one 10¢ crop, one time, that’s $6 million profit on a 10¢ purchase. Zynga also owns one of the most popular Texas-Holdem, “social” App games. Between Farmville and 20 other games, Zynga pulls a 9 figure annual revenue check.

9 Wow! (Again) Keep in mind that this technology is just over 2 years old. “Social games have surged over the past two years to $720 million.” (Business Week, 2009). Projected to grow to $2 Billion by 2012.

10 I AM T-Pain This App mimics the robot-like voice of famous rapper T-Pain. Created by a one year-old start up company called Smule. App released in early 2009 for $2.99 and is projected to hit well over $3 million.
