Goal Progress Reporting Overview
Aggregate Level: Student Level: Goal Progress Monitoring and Linking Interventions Goal Reporting with Filters and Progress Monitoring Predefined Reports Goal Progress can be monitoring in three separate places in the Maryland Online IEP system and Student Compass. 1. There are Predefined Reports within the Aggregate level and Student level. 2. There are goal reporting with filtering and progress tracking at the Aggregate level. 3. There are goal progress monitoring and linking interventions at the Student level.
4
Predefined Reports Let’s begin with how to access the reports section of the MD Online IEP System. Reports are always generated at the Aggregate level but can be filtered to narrow down the results of the report. From the Aggregate level view, choose the Reports button in the white band at the top of the page. Even when in the student view, the white ribbon of items is always available and accessible.
5
Predefined Reports A list of all available reports is generated and you can choose the report you need by clicking on the title of the report written in blue.
6
Predefined Reports After choosing a report (in this example, Abbreviated Services), filters will be available to narrow the data shown. Running reports at the school level is more efficient than running a report on an entire school district’s data. The data will be returned on the page for viewing but the data from the reports is also available for download to an Excel spreadsheet. Using the Export to CSV button at the top of the report results page will prompt the user to indicate what should be done with the file, SAVE or OPEN. Once the CSV is downloaded, the resulting file can be saved to the user’s computer or sorted to capture the data the user desires.
7
Predefined Reports Some notes about reports:
Reports are available at the Aggregate level but can be accessed while in the Student level view Most reports are generated by data from closed IEPs Most reports can be downloaded as a CSV file into Excel To review, reports are generated at the Aggregate level. Once IEPs are closed, the IEP data becomes available for the reports. Data from draft IEPs or Amendments are included in the Draft and Closed IEPs report and the SPP Indicator reports gather additional data from the Evaluation Summary and Determination of Eligibility Form, if it has been completed. The Export as a CSV feature allows the user to view the data from the report in an Excel spreadsheet, providing additional opportunities to utilize the data.

Goal Progress - Aggregate Level
Enter goals in student’s IEP Track progress on goals for entire school, grade, or aggregate View progress on the Monitoring page The process of monitoring progress on goals begins with entering the goals in a student’s IEP. Progress is then tracked on goals included in a closed IEP (Active IEP). As progress is tracked throughout the implementation of the IEP, data is collected and charted to provide a means of determining if the student is making progress in his/her IEP. The progress on goals in the IEP can be seen from an individual student’s perspective or from the Aggregate level across all goals in all IEPs the user has access to.
9
Goal Reporting with Filters and Progress Monitoring at the Aggregate level
Pictured here is the view of the Progress page at the Aggregate level. Goal Progress Reporting is displayed in 2 formats. 1. Progress on goals using filters, such as by Grade, Gender, Race, Disability (Primary Disability from the Eligibility page in the IEP), Goal Category, Goal Area, ESY, FBA or BIP Special Considerations (AT, Communications, Blind, Deaf, LEP), and LRE. 2. Goals are aggregated by category: Academic, Behavioral, Health and Physical. To expand the areas included within the category, choose the arrow next to the category title. The category will expand to show the areas that include goals from all IEPs the user has access to. The right side of the page shows the total number of goals in the category followed by the number of goals that meet each of the Progress Codes. Users can determine trends, needs, and strengths at the Aggregate level from this view.
10
Goals Reporting Progress using Filters
The chart at the top of the Progress page displays growth on goals based on the filters that are selected. Filters, such as by Grade, Gender, Race, Disability, can be used. The Active IEP data will change as new filters are selected.
11
Goal Progress Monitoring
To view the individual students who have goals in this area, choose the arrow next to the title of the area. The page will expand and show all students who have a goal in this area and how the student was rated on the most recent progress report. Selecting the student’s name written in blue will display the Monitoring page at the Student level. If progress needs to be entered for this goal, the user can choose the Track Progress button below the student’s name. The Track Progress page in the Active IEP will be displayed.
12
Goal Progress Monitoring
Enter goals in student’s IEP Track progress on individual student goals View progress on the Monitoring page & link goals to Interventions The process of monitoring progress on goals begins with entering the goals in a student’s IEP.
13
Goal Progress Monitoring-Student Level
Progress can be tracked on the Student Level on the actual goal and on interventions that are linked to that goal. Both sections are found under Monitoring on the Student Level. Data can be collected on the progress of goals to indicate if the student has achieved the goal, is making sufficient progress to meet goal, is not making sufficient progress to meet goal, is a newly Introduced skill; that progress is not measurable at this time, or is not yet introduced the goal. Interventions can also be linked to goals. Each District sent approved Interventions to be part of Student Compass in the Maryland Online IEP system.
14
Goal Progress Monitoring- Student Level
Spark Line Pictured here is the view of the student’s Monitoring page. Three goals are displayed and include text indicating the most recent progress report entered for one of the goals and a “spark line” to visually display a summary of all progress reports entered to date. A spark line is a small graph that presents the student’s progress on the goal criteria, allowing the user to identify trends in the student’s progress. The spark line will appear after two progress reports have been added to the goal in the Actual Results Achieved section of the student’s Active IEP.
15
Track Goal Progress Progress on goals can be collected. This data is used to create the “spark line”. After clicking on the Track Progress button, past Goal Progress information is displayed. Then a Progress Code radio button should be selected when tracking goal progress, along with a percentage for the actual results received, date of progress report, and description of progress. The spark line will be updated every time more goal progress data is entered.
16
Goal Progress Monitoring
Goal Progress Monitoring is: Displayed at both the Student level and the Aggregate level Collected from individual student progress reports and is aggregated across all IEPs the user has access to so it can be viewed at the Aggregate level Aggregated data that can be further analyzed by drilling down to the individual student Now that you have an understanding of how the goal progress monitoring is collected, aggregated, and displayed at both the Student level and the Aggregate level, take a minute to reflect on how this additional data analysis would be helpful to you as a service provider, as a school administrator, or as a county administrator. Using this data to drive decision making will be the focus of upcoming professional development activities to be included in the MD Online IEP System Instructional Series.
17
Interventions On the Student level, interventions can also be linked to goals – using approved Interventions that each District sent us to be part of Student Compass in the Maryland Online IEP system. On the Intervention screen, progress can be tracked on existing interventions (that are linked to goals) and new interventions can be linked to goals.
18
Add Interventions By clicking on the Add Intervention button, a new intervention can be linked to a student’s existing goal. Select a intervention from the Intervention drop-down list. Also, select a location, frequency, number of sessions, minutes per session, and provider from those drop-down lists and type begin and end dates.
19
Track Interventions Progress
These interventions can be tracked after interventions have been linked to a goal. A Progress Code radio button is selected to indicate if the intervention used is helping to meet this goal. The Progress Code shows if the student has achieved the goal, is making sufficient progress to meet goal, is not making sufficient progress to meet goal, is a newly Introduced skill; that progress is not measurable at this time, or is not yet introduced the goal. Also, the date of progress report, and description of progress, student's attendance, and number of sessions are collected.
20
Interventions Some notes about interventions:
Interventions are available at the Student level Interventions can be added to goals in active IEPs Approved Interventions were added for each District The progress of these interventions can be tracked.
21
Conclusion The topics that were covered in this PD Activity were how to: Access and produce predefined reports from the MD Online IEP System View Goal Reporting with Filters and Progress Monitoring at the Aggregate level Display Goal Progress Monitoring and link interventions on the Student level Progress can be viewed in many different ways and formats now. It can be displayed at the Aggregate level or Student level. Data can be seen, filtered, and compared/analyzed for a group of students at the Aggregate level. Spark lines can show how a particular student is progressing on meeting a goal. Interventions can be linked to goals at the Student level and progress can be displayed on it. Through this PD activity, you have obtained information on how to: Access and produce predefined reports from the MD Online IEP System View Goal Reporting with Filters and Progress Monitoring at the Aggregate level Display Goal Progress Monitoring and link interventions on the Student level
