Bonus / Malus, TVTS since 2008 Scrappage scheme on 2009 – 2010 … leading to a positive PC market level… 2008 : 2,050 M.V; 2009 : 2,078 MV; 2010 > 2 MV … and to very low CO2 in average 2007 : 147 g 2010 : 130 g (EU average : 14x g) Lowest CO2 emissions in large EU markets
3
Sales and CO2 forecast Stable market volume in the future : ~ 2 M/year
No significant growth in a mature market Market mix evolving upwards from a low 2009 point Progressive introduction of EV & P-HEV vehicles Strong public policy supported by low CO2 electricity Two local manufacturers investing in these vehicles CO2 forecast : driven by EU Regulation and taxation Current share of transport in CO2 emissions : ~ 24 % tbc Strong Gov. ambition on environment, energy and CO2
4
Customer expectations ?
Stronger economic requirements Significant Retail Price decrease Average decrease since 2007 : ~ - 8% Significant change of the Product mix, A + B segment Effect of the crisis and of the taxation scheme Importance of fuel consumption High average mileage in France compared to other EU countries, even if decreasing Taxation scheme promotes strongly low CO2 cars Aside economics : safety, style, comfort
5
Possible role for fuels ?
Major role of Diesel : 60 – 70 % of PC market CO2 performance based on diesel share Likely decrease with Euro 5 standards Lower competitivity of cars Strong commitment on biofuels Gazoline : E 10 ; marginally E 85 Diesel : B 7, possible extension to B 10 EV development Purchase incentives ; call for tender for LCV Support to infrastructure deployment R&D and investment support : Tax credit, batteries, etc. Note the G/D supply/ demand imbalance in the EU
6
Plans for infrastructures
Reloading infrastructure for EV : « Green book » under preparation 12 major cities committed to develop EV Requirements for future building to facilitate EV reloading display in parkings Limited infrastructure deployment for CNG and E 85 ; LPG exists already
