4 The coming of the prefect and of the Perfect: Pilate of Rome and Jesus of Nazareth (26-29AD). Pilate served as prefect 26-37AD. He was devious, anti-Semitic, and brutal. Nazareth had a population of 480. Jesus ministry began at the incident of His baptism by John. Jesus spoke in Aramaic calling Himself the Son of Man in reference to Daniel 7 where He is not only human but is given a dominion role between this world and the everlasting kingdom (Daniel 7:13-14, Isaiah 43:3-4).

Jerusalem had at this time a population of 60,000 residents. About 6,000 lambs would have been sacrificed on the day before Passover. The Last Supper meal occurred on Thursday evening. Sanhedrin – council of 70. Those who collaborated with Rome were the priestly aristocracy, the scribes, and the tax collectors.

7 Judicial reason for the crucifixion was treason but the public offense reason was the claim to be King of the Jews.
