The Grand Canal is the perfect place to go to while in Venice. The tour can be taken in a private boat, gondola, or a water taxi. On the relaxing ride you can spot some of Venice’s most famous buildings some in which date from the 13th to 18th century including churches and palaces. The tour passes some of Venice’s most visited tourist attractions like the Rialto Bridge, St Mark’s Square, and the Salute. Shaped in a S the canal is two and a half miles long and connects to many different canals and islands. Whether it’s with your special someone or your friends there’s nothing better than learning about Venice’s history while being able to see the surreal and elegant views of Venice.

4 St. Mark’s Basilica Located in Piazza San Marc, St. Mark’s Basilica is a master piece of art. St. Mark’s Basilica is known most popularly for it’s structural build inside and out! Also known as the Chiesa d’Oro (Church of Gold) the cathedral has a jaw dropping interior and it gives you a snippet of the background of Italian architecture. The cathedral displays some of Italy’s artwork and mosaics dating from hundreds of years ago. From the top of the cathedral you can see all over Venice. Although the church was built in the 11th century it still leaves people in awe after seeing the compilation of Byzantine, Roman, and Venetian architecture. This spot is a must in Venice because of the historical significance and also because of the intricate build.
