National Wildfire Coordinating Group
Mission Statement The purpose of NWCG is to coordinate programs of the participating wildfire management agencies to avoid wasteful duplication and to provide a means of constructively working together. The goal is to provide more effective execution of each agency’s fire management program. Purpose of the Course To provide the student with wildland fire behavior knowledge applicable for safe and effective fire management activities (wildfires, prescribed fire, and fire use).

Course Objectives Identify and discuss the three sides of the fire triangle. Identify the environmental factors of fuels, weather, and topography that affect the start and spread of wildland fire. Describe the contributing factors that indicate the potential for increased fire behavior that may compromise safety.

- Attend all sessions - Start on time - Class participation is essential

Evaluations Student Evaluations:
Students must obtain 70% or higher on the final exam. Course Evaluations: Opportunity for students to comment on the course for the purpose of improving future courses.
