“we may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race.” Kofi Annan

MEXICANS WORK HARDER THAN ANY OTHER ETHNIC GROUP

Is this true? This isn’t necessarily true. Mexican people are a working class of people just as any other ethnic group. Mexicans are often looked upon as hard workers because they don’t mind doing the work many of us choose not to do. The Mexican race as well as other groups work together so that they are able to provide for their families. Yes, many Mexicans are willing to work for less pay, but what grateful human being you know won’t work for less or until given the opportunity to be offered more.

Americans are not as smart as foreigners

Is this true? Just like any other country, Americans have a percentage of people that range from dumb and dumber to the elite of the elite. Just because some Americans choose to hire others or allow others to do their work for them does not make them less intelligent. Yes, Americans could choose healthier eating habits which lessens the amount of sugar in take and obesity, which may cause the brain to function at a slower rate, but this does not mean that Americans are less intelligent. We are Americans, many of us choose to have a childhood, many of us choose to receive support, many of us choose to sit back and be the boss, and although we have many of our own resources right here in America, we choose to support foreigners. Video games, social media, unhealthy eating habits, and obesity, are a few of many reasons why foreigners may think Americans are less intelligent than they are. Foreigners are known for not fully experiencing a childhood and being extremely serious people.

black men are violent and deal drugs

Is this true? Between 6.6 percent and 7.5 percent of all black males ages 25 to 39 were imprisoned in 2011, which were the highest imprisonment rates among the measured sex, race, Hispanic origin, and age groups. As of December 31, 2013 these are the numbers for sentenced state and federal prisoners in the United States. Black Males 1,412,745 – Black Non Hispanic 526,000- White Males Non Hispanic 454,100 Hispanic 314,600- Other 118,100 Blacks are more likely to be arrested than whites on drug charges, they are more likely to acquire the convictions that ultimately lead to higher rates of incarceration. Although data indicate that blacks represent about one-third of drug arrests, they constitute 46 percent of persons convicted of drug felonies in state court. Among black defendants convicted of drug offenses, 71 percent received sentences to incarceration in contrast to 63 percent of convicted white drug offenders. Although there is data to prove high numbers of black males vs violence and drugs , I don’t believe black males holistically chose this lifestyle. I do believe that the history of limited environmental resources for blacks, is correlated with the result of violent neighborhoods, gang violence, limited resources for educational systems, and limited parent-involvement.

children that come from poor neighborhoods do not perform well academically

Is this true? This isn’t necessarily true for all children living in poor neighborhoods, but many. Poverty puts neighborhoods and its children living in them at risk for failure. Children of all ethnic groups that grow up under poor conditions, are much more likely than others to have high rates of crime, violence, physical and mental health issues, high unemployment rates, and many other problems. As neighborhood poverty rates increase, undesirable outcomes rise and opportunities for success are less likely.

Heavier women are insecure & thinner women are snobby

Is this true? No one woman will express herself the exact same as the next woman. Although women are emotional and experience mood swings, not one can say that she doesn’t experience mixed emotions of passiveness, insecurities, confidence, independence, and many other feelings or emotions. Yes women can relate to her sister’s of all shapes and sizes, but it is because she is a woman not because she is thin or heavy. Every woman experience moments of having to evaluate her appearance and self-worth, whether it to be great or small. If anything, heavy women have had to compete for so long with thinner women, due to social media, that they have learned to prove to themselves that they are and can be just as worthy, knowledgeable, fun, athletic, aggressive, or sensitive as any woman of any size.

Cops are crooked

Is this true? Most cops are not directly involved in corrupt activity. Good cops become bad cops when they associate themselves with bad cops and allow them to act freely without acknowledging their criminal activity. 79% says yes and 21% says no most cops aren’t corrupt. Angry victims of corrupt cops says cops like to abuse their power. They are granted something so powerful and then they take advantage of it. For the many that believe that our law enforcement is corrupt, they also blame our government. These angry victims believes our protectors have failed us and is now time to stand up to the police force.

WHO SAID YOU CAN’T BE DIFFERENT

SUMMARY Stereotype is used to categorize a group of people. People don't know the act of being different or understand the meaning of diversity, so they put others into several different groups which classify them by what they look like, act like, are like, or want to be like. This term is used to define all people into a mostly negative category. All people of all nationalities have been victims of being stereotyped. Here are a few more stereotypes to get you thinking. All blacks are lazy, on welfare, and don't believe in marriage before having kids. All Arabs are angry people and like to blow up anything. All Mexican families like to drive around in small vehicles. All white men commit suicide if they go broke. All white people that are bullied commit suicide. All Asian people eat rice or noodles.
