GAIL’S PIPELINE ATTRIBUTES
Approx. 740 nos. of Pipeline Sections Pipelines ranging from 4 IN to 48 IN Dia 99% of Pipelines are of Carbon Steel Steel Grades API 5L X GR B to X80 Design Code of NG Pipelines: ASME B31.8, T4S, OISD-226 & LPG Pipeline: B31.4, T4S, OISD 214 Dia: IN % of Total Length
14
PIPELINE PIGGABILITY Most of the Pipelines are Piggable ~ 89% (By Length) Most of the LMC’s connectivity is smaller in length
15
OPERATING PRESSURE OF PIPELINES W.R.T. SMYS
47 % of pipelines (By number) operate below 50 % of SMYS Operating Pressure as % SMYS
16
EXTERNAL COATING SYSTEM
More than 95% of Pipelines are having 3-layer Polyethylene coating Some older Pipelines (most taken over from ONGC) are having Coal tar Coating Close to 500 Kms of such Ageing Pipelines are under various stages of replacement
17
Cathodic Protection System
100% Pipelines covered by CP Most of the Pipelines are having Impressed Current cathodic protection (ICCP)
18
Sources & Consumers NG Sources: LPG Sources:
Total NG sources : 70 Suppliers : ONGC, PLL, RGTIL, RGPPL, OIL, CAIRN , FOCUS ENERGY, HLPL, HOEC LPG Sources: Total Sources : 6 Suppliers: IOCL, HPCL, RIL, CAVERN, EIPL NG Consumers: > 500 nos. from Power, Fertilizer and other industries like CGD networks across the country
19
Sector wise Supply * Others include Steel, Refineries, Sponge Iron, Petrochemicals, GAIL Internal consumption etc.
20
Journey Ahead GAIL is spearheading development of Natural Gas infrastructure in the country: Very important for economic progress and addressing environmental concerns Extending the pipelines to the regions of the country not connected so far Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline (JHBDPL) with CGD Networks along 7 nos. of cities Barauni-Guwahati Kochi-Koottanad-Bengaluru-Mangalore Pipeline (KKBMPL)-Ph-2 GAIL pipeline operations focussed on adoption of new technologies in Pipeline Integrity Management and Efficiency.
