19. LISD Programs of Study Offerings
Within each of the five ENDORSEMENTS, there are multiple pathways (called Programs of Study or Career Pathways) that a student may pursue.
Think of the 5 endorsements as different paths to a high school diploma. The programs of study are the various paths that you can take to reach your destination.
Here is a quick look at the program of study offerings in LISD
As an 8th grader, students will only be required to choose one of the five endorsements (or broad areas of study).
Then, once in high school, they will have the opportunity to take a couple of elective courses within their chosen endorsement. By the end of the 9th grade year, students will revisit their plans and make decisions about picking a program of study in that endorsement or changing endorsements.
Think of the 5 endorsements as different destinations on a map. The programs of study are the different ways that you can reach your destination.

Students must select one endorsement and one career pathway within the endorsement area by the end of their Freshman year of high school.

22. Foundation Program with Distinguished Level of Achievement
To earn the Distinguished Level of Achievement, students must complete:
FHSP requirements
One Endorsement
Algebra II
ONLY students completing the Distinguished Level of Achievement are eligible for college admission under the top 10% automatic admission provision to state universities.
Top 10% are eligible for Automatic Admission in a Texas public university (UT top 8% or other (to be determined yearly)
The third level is the Distinguished Level of Achievement. This plan builds on the Foundation + Endorsement level by requiring that Algebra II be one of the 26 credits earned. Graduating under this plan allows students to become eligible for automatic admission into state universities if they graduate in the top 10% of their class.

23. Personal Graduation Plan (PGP)
Required for every HS student
Provides a plan of the student’s progression through high school.
Includes relevant information about student such as:
Courses taken
Test grades
Four year graduation plan
Future plans
Is to be completed in partnership with the counselor, student, and parent/guardian
The personal graduation plan is a working document used by counselors to tract student completion of graduation requirements. It is a tool used to document grades, assessments, acceleration, and other requirements in law. The personal graduation plan is an opportunity for students and counselors to meet individual needs. 
House Bill 5 requires each student to connect to a personal graduation plan that leads to an endorsement. This process requires a district to consider the importance in using programs of study and the personal graduation plan, collaboratively, to satisfy current and prior legislation. The program of study is an advisement tool for students, parents and counselors. It is a map for college and career readiness aligned to an occupational objective.

Students will take the College Board Suite of Assessments:
PSAT 8/9 (8th and 9th grade)
PSAT/NMSQT (10th grade)
SAT (11th grade)
Each assessment has a college and career readiness benchmark score
Students who meet the benchmark score are considered on target for college and career success.

27. College Admissions Tests
Many colleges and universities in the U.S. and Texas require you to take either the SAT or the ACT test. Often your scores on these tests determine whether you will be admitted to the college of your choice. Some colleges and universities award special scholarships based on your scores.
