20 AB TECH AND ASSOCIATES DEGREES
Students hoping to complete an associates degree at the same time as graduation should make an appointment with Dr. Pollock on the AB Tech campus. A.A. and A.S. Degree requirements can be found on the AB Tech website. (College degrees are not the responsibility of NDA). Remember that because you are an AB Tech student, you can make appointments to speak with financial aid on the campus and receive help with the FAFSA from financial aid experts. (Your counselor is not and never will be a financial advisor) REMINDER that students are responsible for any fee or textbook cost associated with any AB Tech course taken off campus.

21 Associate Degree? Why? THINGS TO CONSIDER- CONS
Slow down…It’s important that before you dive head first in to an Associate Degree that you ask yourself “why”? Why do you want it? THINGS TO CONSIDER- CONS A student who has earned an Associate Degree will have completed 2 years worth of college credit but potentially have 3+ years to complete a Bachelor Degree. You will need to take courses over the summer and/or 5th credits If students’ GPA begins to decline due to taking college courses, then pursuing a college degree while in high school may not be right for them (GPA=College acceptance/Scholarships) You will be required to take courses not offered on our campus which means purchasing books/paying fees (even if courses are online) Some of the courses are specific to the Associate Degree and would not transfer to a 4 year college alone. Those are class periods you could devote to more challenging or interesting courses.

22 Associate Degree? Why? THINGS TO CONSIDER-PROS
Slow down…It’s important that before you dive head first in to an Associate Degree that you ask yourself “why”? Why do you want it? THINGS TO CONSIDER-PROS You do not plan on pursuing your 4 year degree You would like the option to not live on campus You do not plan on pursuing college scholarships You have done your research and know without a doubt that you will complete your 4 year degree in just 2 more years (this requires meeting with the University you plan on transferring to) You can devote your summers and possibly some 5th credits to school work

23 THIS SUMMER Check the counseling website for summer programs
Visit colleges (incorporate them into your vacations)---- Any college visits taken during the school year will require a college day request form in advance (found on the website) Think about taking your first SAT READ! It helps to improve test scores Clean up your social media
