2 1774, the Coercive Acts are passed!
Lord North, the new British Prime minister was furious after the Boston Tea Party. The acts were passed as punishment on Massachusetts. The colonists called these acts the Intolerable Acts.

3 What were the Intolerable Acts?
Closed Boston Harbor until the tea from the Tea Party was paid for. The Massachusetts Charter was canceled and the colonial legislature could only meet when the governor permitted it to. Royal officials accused of a crime were sent to Britain to face trial. The Quartering Act (1765) was put to use to house or supply British Soldiers. British General Thomas Gage became the new governor of Mass.

4 Reactions Sugar Act – colonial boycotts
Stamp Act – formation of the Sons of Liberty, boycotted goods and used violence to frighten tax collectors. Formation of the Stamp Act Congress. Townshend Acts – boycotts and violece by the Sons of Liberty. Tea Act – Boston Tea Party Intolerable Acts – called for large scale boycotts and formed the First Continental Congress
