Feasts Old and New Matt. 26:26-27
“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." 27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom.” 1. The information about the Lord's Supper is found in several passages a. Matthew 26:26-29 “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom.” b. Mark 14:22-25 and Luke 22:19,20 have the same basic information c. I Corinthians 11:23-26 is Paul’s account of the Lord’s Supper Mk. 14: Lk. 22: Cor. 11:23-26

We use unleavened bread to partake of the Lord’s Supper, b/c when Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper He used unleavened bread to symbolize His body. But there is more to it than just the bread being unleavened b. 1 Corinthians 5:7-9 “Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people.” 3. We must put away every sinful habit. When we come on Sunday mornings to partake of the Lord’s Supper, God demands that we are living a faithful life to Him, that is the only way we can partake in sincerity and truth as mentioned here in 1 Cor. 5

Feasts Old and New Passover Lord’s Supper Those in God’s family
Born into Those in God’s family New Birth – Jn. 3:5 “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s Body.” 1 Cor. 11:28-29 1. The Passover was observed by those who were in God's family. Now to be in God’s family in thee O.T., you were born into the family. Those who partake the Lord's Supper are those who are in God's family. 2. One gets into the kingdom (church) by the new birth - Jn. 3:5 H B R C B = S. 3. Then we are added to the church and have the privilege of taking the Lord's Supper in remembrance of his love for us and in anticipation of his return. 4. We are to partake of this new feast in the proper way - 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 “Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.”
