1 Introduction Part 1

2 What is a worldview? A world view is a mental model of reality — a framework of ideas & attitudes about the world, ourselves, and life, a comprehensive system of beliefs — with answers for a wide range of question There are about 6 billion people on this planet. It is fair to say that there are 6 billion worldviews then. Generally though, some thoughts and ideas become so popular that they collect a following. For example, democracy is one kind of government people may favor while monarchy is another.

3 What is a worldview? Worldviews cover of a wide variety of topics: politics, ethics, philosophy, science, psychology, sociology, law, economics, history, religion, etc. In our textbook, we will be comparing “a Biblical worldview” with some other common ways of thinking in the world: Secular humanism, Marxist, Cosmic Humanist (New Age), Postmodern, and the Islamic worldview. As Christians, why should we bother talking a look at other worldviews?

4 What are we going to study?
6 worldviews, 10 disciplines (subjects)

5 How would one form a “Biblical worldview?”
