IEEE Robotics

IEEE RAS: About Us Robotics and Automation Society
Compete in IEEE Regional Robotics Competition New Orleans Regional Competition Robots are Multidisciplinary EE/CS: Circuit board design, Image processing, Artificial intelligence programming, electromechanical ME: Modeling, CAD, Static/Dynamic Analysis, Materials, Manufacturing/Metal working

RAS: Goals Develop practical engineering skills through real-world application in a competitive environment. Develop Hard Engineering Skills. Word problems in class are meh and teach you basic concepts. Develop Soft Skills. Surprisingly, in real life your communication skills are more valuable than your hard skills.

RAS: Other Employers love this. Engineering Students part of a team outdo their peers who just study and go home. They choose a 3.4 GPA +RAS student over a 4.0 GPA + nothing student. For instance, this year we have members doing internships at: Southwest Research Institute: $22/hr (San Antonio, TX) Raytheon: $22/hr (Dallas, TX) Aerospace Corporation: $24/hr (San Jose, California) CPS: $17/hr (San Antonio, TX)
