*Reminder: Early Release 10/31 at 11: 30 a.m.
Just a reminder that this year we will continue with the principal’s book club award. Students will have the opportunity to receive an end of the year award for completing at least 25 book summaries. I have modeled what a basic summary should look like. Every Wednesday your child will be assigned a book summary for homework. They may use their library books. Please look over your child’s work and encourage him/her to complete additional summaries. Thank you!!

2nd 9 weeks Units of Study
Language Arts:
phonics & word knowledge
comprehension skills (inferencing, fiction vs. non-fiction, author’s purpose, making connections, and summarizing) & fluency
writing process, spelling and vocabulary(prefixes and suffixes)
Math:
money (counting a collection of coins)
2 digit add/subt. with regrouping
Data Representations
Geometry (2d and 3d)
Science:
Magnetism
Natural resources
weather and seasons
Social Studies:
critical thinking skills
Remembering heroes
identify major landforms
map skills/continents and oceans
use of natural resources
