5. Diversity at SMSU
At SMSU diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. At SMSU, explore these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. We collaborate to understand each other and move beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

1.3.1: Develop a comprehensive university-wide Communication and Marketing Plan A: Implement the Student Success Plan with a specific focus and emphasis on the Academic Advising Plan.

1.5.1: Develop a plan to foster positive student engagement in campus life through student organization participation, student activities, residential life and volunteer community service, and the Civic Action Plan.
