3 Overview This presentation is a flipped presentation in preparation for the AACN Faculty Development Conference, Fort Worth, February 6 th -8 th, 2014. Conferees will experience this flipped presentation, as an example of active learning. The actual session on February 6 th from 3:00-4:30 PM will be a follow-up session, hosted live by Ms. Connie Barbour and Dr. Jack Yensen, who will join via Google+ Hangout.

4 Potential Outcomes Conferees will: Experience flipping in action Evaluate contemporary research for the flipped classroom Participate in pre-conference discussion Participate in a live conference session to seek future directions

5 Flip Models Legacy model – on site attendance at conference presentation Flipped model – pre-conference exposure to the presentation, followed by an active learning session Active Learning Flip with Interaction and Exploration (ALFIE) model

6 ALFIE Model Use a pre-conference interaction (Google discussion group), Browsing of a curated concept-resource map where conferees can determine duration, extent and sequence (learner control) of content to be explored and reviewed Live on site session Post-conference discussion group. Interaction can be two level, namely interaction with presentation content, including multi-media, and interaction with other conferees through the discussion group.
