3 Specific changes in climate occur at different latitudes.
Temperatures drastically change from top to bottom of a mountain. On average, temperature decreases 10 degrees Celsius for every 1,000 meters ascended.

4 Soils Due to steep hills, most soils are well drained, thin, and vulnerable to erosion. Winds blowing up from lowlands deposit soil particles and organic matter on mountains.
