Identified need for a booster organization to support school districts athletic programs First official meeting held November 16, 2009 Constitution adopted on January 28, 2010 Entered agreement with Nebraska Community Foundation in July 2010, providing boosters with 501(c)(3) status

Members include parents, coaches, school administrators, faculty, alumni and friends Officers and Directors are elected annually in August Annual dues for 2010-11 school year are $10 per person, or Lifetime due is $100 per person

Support, encourage and help advance athletic programs to maintain competitive standing among area schools and within the Southern Nebraska Conference Undertake projects and secure qualified charitable gifts and/or grants to improve facilities and athletic equipment

School administrators, coaching staff, school board members and Thayer Central Athletic (TCA) boosters have identified several areas of need Facilities and equipment have not been updated in more than 30 years! Over 80 percent of student body is involved in at least one extra curricular activity

Weightlifting area cramped and equip- ment very outdated Some equipment handmade Area shared with wrestling program Available space not sufficient for either activity Weightlifting & Wrestling Practice Area Wrestling Mats in Intermediate Gym

Competition football field located on city property Annual city use fee is $5,000 + utilities Inadequate parking Locker rooms and showers located 8 blocks away on main campus Current Campus including Practice Football Field & Track Current Football Competition Field, and Hebron Summer Rec Complex

Eight lanes required around entire track to host NSAA sanctioned events

Parking at High School and Junior High is limited at well attended events Life safety-egress is inadequate in high school gymnasium

Improvement plan developed by W Design Associates of Hastings, Nebraska Previous experience includes Doane College in Crete, and Hastings College (Track & Field Complex) in Hastings Preliminary budget estimate $4.5 million The time has arrived for our athletic facilities to move forward

Relocate competition football field to main campus Develop new football practice field New construction on north end of Intermediate building to include press box, video balcony, stadium seating, locker rooms Expanded parking on east side of Intermediate building (and wheelchair accessible to stadium seating)

Resurface and expand track to include 8 lanes Take advantage of existing slope by creating terraces for long jump, triple jump and pole vault New construction also includes commons area, concession area, public restrooms Option to expand seating in Intermediate gym to accommodate tournaments

The current state of affairs impacts most of us either personally, or through a spouse, child, grandchild, friend or neighbor Lets work together to position Thayer Central as the flagship institution for education and athletics in this county
