Newton’s Laws of Motion
KELMILY SCHUCHERO Period 7
2
Newton’s First Law An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
3
Newton’s First Law- EXAMPLE
^ Hey look! We did this in class! Go Mrs. Celinieeee. WEEEEEEE!!!
4
Newton’s Second Law The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object. F net =ma
5
Newton’s Second Law- EXAMPLE
A tow truck exerts a force of 2000 N on a car, acceleration at 2m/s/s. The mass of the car (ignore friction) is ______kg Remember F net =ma 1,000
6
Newton’s Third Law For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, when one object exerts a force on another object, the second object exerts a force of equal strength in the opposite direction on the first object.
7
Newton’s Third Law- EXAMPLE
A recoil of an air cannon
