SITUATION
Providers are charged with improving clinical outcomes, as well as improving the overall point of care experience. Anesthesia providers are required to report quality measures for each anesthetic procedure for patients 18 and older who have a certain number of risk factors for PONV. AnesthesiaOS needed better standardizing of the preoperative screening process to assess the probability of the patients having PONV after surgery.

SOLUTION
The AnesthesiaOS PONV app is an Office365 Add-in that uses Azure cloud storage, and Azure Machine Learning to assist anesthesia providers in the preoperative screening of patients for the risk of PONV. If a patient is high risk, notations are placed within the AnesthesiaOS application. These notifications are seen as pop-ups that assist with decision support for the providers. The app takes advantage of Office365 by utilizing Excel to pull data from cloud storage. The interoperability benefits include the use of Azure cloud storage, Azure Machine Learning, and Office 365 Excel.
