GLOBAL WARMING By ……. 8E1 Science

Dangers The available land mass will shrink because of coastal flooding. 85% of the population live near the coast line. Warming seas expand, and because the Arctic polar cap is a continental glacier the melting ice will further raise sea levels. Storms will become more severe as the water temperature rises. Heat waves and droughts will be more common. The glaciers that feed the great rivers of Europe and Asia are disappearing. Millions of people depend on that water.

Global warming heats up the earth and we may not be able to grow crops ect.
Sometimes global warming can even cause alteration in genes that can cause Cancer. Depletion of stratospheric ozone leads to an increase in UV exposure and temperature, increasing the risk of skin cancer and cataracts. Even a slight rise in temperature can make our climate weaken, causing unimaginable disaster and destruction.

EFFECTS An increase in the trapped heat will: Change and alter weather patterns. Which in turn will: Result in some living things not being able to adapt to these changes which will hasten species extinction. Global warming will influence the length of seasons. There will be more rain, followed by longer and drier droughts, which will challenge the growth of crops. Ice sheets will melt which will potentially raise sea levels a lot and cause coastal flooding. It will also lead to more, frequent and intense storms.

There are various studies and opinions on how severe the climate change will be, and how global warming will affect the earth. What does seem to be agreed upon is that instant action is necessary to stop permanent damage to the earth, water resources and ecosystems. Rainfall has increased in the U.S. 10% in the last century and is predicted to increase another 10% over the next years according to the current values.
