Finish cutting and gluing the Story Vocab and the Plot Vocab in your journal. Read until everyone finishes!

IAN Activities for today
Cut out the heading and pieces. Glue the heading on the top of page Glue the tops of the pieces onto the page so that you can still open them. They should be flaps! We’ll define them under the flaps. Cut out the heading and the rectangular sheet. Slice it on the lines leaving the left side in one piece. Glue it down on the left side so we can define UNDER the flaps. Exposition Introduces the setting and important characters
Sets up or hints at the conflict

Inciting Incident The event that sets the story in motion

Rising Action Conflict, or struggle, is developed and more difficult Builds suspense

Climax The most exciting part and turning point of the story.
Usually the main character comes face to face with a conflict.

Falling Action Eases the tension
Shows how the character resolves the conflict
