2 Action-Adventure DCSE Paragraph
In the Journey 2 The Mysterious Island poster poster, a male character is seen to be running away from a giant lizard. The male character’s body language and facial expression connote urgency and fear, while the giant lizard connotes imminent danger. The chase signifies the action-adventure genre, as the male character, the hero of the story (according to Propp’s Chatacter Theory), runs away from an opposing force, providing an obstacle in his journey. In addition for a chase being a convention of action-adventure films, the lizard and the setting signify an exotic location, away from modern civilisation, which further represents the genre. As a result, the primary audience of action-adventure films would be further attracted to see the film, as it promises excitement and movement, as well as a strong male character audience members could identify with.
