2 Video presenting the ICT4Water Cluster

3 Why ICT4Water cluster? Challenges Opportunities Fragmented markets
Lack of new business models and financing solutions Need for knowledge sharing and capacity building Challenges Increase cooperation among water regulators, operators and users Improving water management, competitiveness and sustainability Exporting European knowledge in a strong growth market Opportunities

4 The ICT4Water Cluster CURRENT 2015 2013 2012 30 EU projects 
Five (5) Collaborative EU projects Ten (10) Collaborative EU projects Ten (10) Collaborative EU project Five (5) Coordination and Support Actions 30 EU projects  300 Organizations  CURRENT 2015 2013 2012 2012 : FP7 projects : Demand side: Efficient Water Resources Management 3 key building blocks: Demand management systems, Decision support systems, Data management 2013 : FP7 projects : Supply side: To pilot and demonstrate ICT systems and services for efficient water use and reuse to improve awareness, To induce changes in consumer behaviour. 2015 : H2020 projects – Water management regarding quality, better supply and demand (quantity), waste water treatement, extrem event (flood), smart irrigation, leakages management, surface water management, pre-commercial procurement for buying research in smart water metering, social platform. All of them are dealing with water management but with strong ICT component.

5 Synergies Exchange of information and experiences between members
Maximize common Dissemination & Exploitation Organise special sessions in conferences and trade shows Advise EC on Roadmaps, Action Plans and new policies Common development of guidelines, strategies, procedures and standards Building New opportunities Everyone can lead initiatives!!! LET2016 Common topics – not to reinvent the wheel Efficient Water use and reuse (circular economy) Reduce Total Cost of Ownership for water ICT Big Data, Data Sharing and privacy management Consumer awareness Decision Supporting System Water-energy nexus and Water-food-energy nexus Standardization Interoperability

6 6 Evolution Smart water ecosystems for replicable high impact solutions Implementation Action Plan for Digital Water Growing the community ICT4Water cluster 300 Partners in 30 Projects Roadmaps 2015 & 2016 Gaps and challenges analysis Fragmented Water market Past Future

7 Roadmap 2015 Roadmap 2016 Action Plan 2017 Outcomes
Focused on Water Management Technological, social and organizational challenges: - Cost/Benefit analysis of ICT - Synergies across sectors - Data sharing - interoperability - Standardization - Indicators Roadmap 2016 Focused in Water Management Main Gaps and Challenges to be addressed: - Big Data - Data infrastructures - Link with Smart Cities - Nexus, Water–Food-Energy - Lack of reliable field trials Action Plan 2017 Identifies challenges, actions, timelines and implementation tools for bringing the benefits of the Digital Single Market to the water sector Roadmaps 2015 & 2016 showed gaps and challenges. Now it is time to move forward with Smart Data Management, Internet of Things, Cloud, smart telecommunication. They will be the key drivers for the digital transformation. Digital is not a trend, it is how we live and mostly, it is not an option! The Action Plan defines Actions in the water management by promoting also the development and adoption of standards that ensure compatibility between systems, data and services across sectors. All sectors included in Smart Cities, among others, the water, eGov, spatial planning, building, mobility, energy management, and many others.

8 Interoperability pilot
Success stories Summer School Project Events Interoperability pilot On top of DAIAD's project that won the Innovation Radar Prize with its device Amphiro b1, that records water consumption and related energy in the shower. We had other success stories DAIAD has recently won the Innovation Radar Prize in the category 'Tech for Society' at the ICT proposers' day in Budapest
