ACTIVITY - THINK OF A TIME

‘What did I see?’
7
What did I see? Your friend has been bullied a bit lately. There has been a lot of name-calling which has also been happening over social media with some others getting involved. Your friend has confided in you saying things are getting worse and they are sick of putting up with it. Others are talking about a big fight that is going to happen after school. At school, you notice what you think looks like a knife in your friend’s bag

What should I do in this situation?
Train Of Thought. What did I see? Was it a knife? It looked like one. Why would they think of bringing a knife to school? Should I tell someone about this? Will my friend get in trouble? What will people think of me if I speak to a teacher? If I do nothing and someone gets hurt, how will I feel? Will I get in trouble? Then again, they are my friend and I don’t want them getting hurt or in trouble What should I do in this situation?

MY LEADERSHIP……

Options DO NOTHING, THE FIGHT PROBABLY WON’T HAPPEN ANYWAY.
TALK WITH MY FRIEND AND TELL HIM WHAT I SAW. TELL HIM I WANT TO HELP. TALK WITH MY FRIENDS AND COME UP WITH A WAY TO DEAL WITH THIS TOGETHER. TALK ABOUT THIS WITH MY PARENTS, A SCHOOL TEACHER OR OTHER ADULT I TRUST. CALL THE POLICE/SPEAK TO THE SCHOOL POLICE OFFICER. PERSONAL OPTION.

TODAYS LEARNING KNIFE CARRYING IS NOT AS COMMON AS YOU THINK.
CARRYING OF KNIVES, EVEN FOR PROTECTION, IS STILL AGAINST THE LAW. IF A FRIEND IS IN TROUBLE WE CAN HELP THEM. THERE ARE A RANGE OF SAFE WAYS THAT WE CAN CONSIDER, TO HELP OUR FRIENDS. SPEAKING TO A TEACHER OR OHER ADULT TO HELP A FRIEND DOESN’T MAKE YOU A GRASS, IT MAKES YOU A GOOD FRIEND. WE ALL HAVE A ROLE IN PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE IN OUR SCHOOL.
