2 Visa/Residence permit
For visits up to 90-days, a visa is required. The application has to be made at the French embassy in Maputo. For visits in Sweden longer than 90 days, a residence permit is required. The type of residence permit depends on which “student category” you belong to.

3 Sandwich students NOT registered in Sweden
Students on sandwich program that are not registered at the Swedish university should apply for a visitor’s permit. The permit can be valid for 90 days or up to one year. 4 Visiting researchers / Post Docs
A visiting researcher is a person who has taken their doctor's degree or is qualified to start their doctoral studies and who has been invited by a Swedish institution to conduct research in Sweden. Permit can be valid for up to 4 years, but it requires that you are full-time in Sweden during the validity period. 5 Sandwich PhD students registered in Sweden
Students on sandwich program that are registered at the Swedish university should apply for a residence permit for studies. Validity from 3 to 24 months General rules At least 50 % of the time has to be spent in Sweden Each visit outside Sweden can be maximum 25 % of the total duration of the validity period of residence permit. Each period for the residence permit has to start and end with a visit in Sweden. A residence permit cannot be valid during a longer period than the validity period of the holders passport.

6 The application to the Embassy/Migration Agency has to include:
A Letter of admission/invitation from the hosting Swedish university/institution A Letter of Support and an Insurance Certificate from ISP (Use Request form) A passport valid for the whole period for the Residence permit Any other document required by the Swedish Migration Agency as indicated on their website. 7 Check lists from the Migration Agency PhD studies
First time Extension Heading stating the certificate’s content Name of Student and date of birth Information about admission Information about the course of study Information about the form of funding Planned period of stay in Sweden Heading stating the certificate’s content Name of student and date of birth Information about the studies -What course/programme, when it began and the regular date for completion. Information about the study plan. If studies are going according to plan, this should be stated. If studies have taken longer than expected, the reason for the delay should be made clear When studies are expected to be complete Preliminary date for when the doctoral studies are expected to be completed. 8 Handling time Shorter processing times for complete applications
For the Swedish Migration Agency to make a decision about your application, all the details need to be filled in and all necessary documents attached. This means that the processing time will be shorter if all the necessary information is included from the start than if information is added afterwards. Note that the Migration Agency may in some cases need to further examine your application even if you have included all the required information and documents. 9 Insurance All students are insured through Kammarkollegiet
Insurance covers: - Emergency medical care (Up to 90 days) - Emergency dental care (max 3000 SEK per year) - Prescribed medicines (within the 90 day period) - Property coverage (not exceeding SEK) Insurance is valid in all countries Claim form should be sent to ISP Kammarkollegiet will decide on reimbursement

10 Allowance Allowance is paid from UEM either to a Mozambican bank account or Swedish bank account. Masters and PhD receives SEK per month Post Docs receives SEK per month

11 Visits to Mozambique Swedish visitors to Mozambique should apply for Visa at the Mozambican embassy in Sweden ISP can issue an Invitation letter upon request.
