2 Introduction Shel Silverstein is one of the best author in the world. More than 20 million copies of Shel Silverstein have been sold and translated into more than 30 languages. He was renowned poet, playwright, illustrator, screenwriter, and songwriter. He is famous for writing children's books.

3 His early life, childhood, family
Shel Silverstein was born on September 25,1930, in Chicago. Helen Silverstein is her mom and Nathan Silverstein is her father. He began to draw when he was twelve. He attended Roosevelt High School and Roosevelt University. He dropped out of the course and join army. He was participating in Korean war in During that time, he was a reporter for Stars and Stripe Publication.

4 Becoming a poet After he went out of army, he got car accident and began to write children’s books. He wrote one of the most remarkable books ‘The Giving Tree’ in More than five and half million copies sold, getting permanent bestseller book. He also wrote a song “A Boy Named Sue” in One of his famous books, ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’ was published in It was also his first poem collection.

5 The rest of life He died in May 10, 1999 at age 68 because of heart failure.

-Won a Grammy Award for "A Boy Named Sue" in 1970 -Recommended for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his song "I'm Checkin' Out", in the film “Postcards from the Edge” -After his death inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002

10 My favorite poem by Shel silverstein
This poem makes me to think about how hot the weather is in summer, especially in Korea. This poem describes well how hot he is and has rhyming pattern which is ABCDC.

11 Conclusion During research, I learned how great he wrote poem and how his lived his life. All his poems weren’t serious, fun to read. I’m glad that I searched about him.
