4 Research and Product A few good, meaty details from your research that is not common knowledge It is important to explain, in detail, the stages of development of your product. ***Procrastination is not an obstacle!! 3-4 minutes…at least. This is the most important aspect of your speech. The judges most look forward to hearing about your product and its process. Never put this many words on your slides. You should not have more than 7 lines of text. Less is More….

5 Mentor Who is he/she? Why did you choose this person?
What qualifications does this person have? 30 seconds to 1 minute

6 Reflection About the topic… About yourself…
Senior Project/Real World Application Keep it positive 1 minute

7 Manners and Questions Conclude your presentation without using the words “conclude” or “conclusion.” Offer the judges a chance to ask you questions (they will ask anyway). This shows you are complete. Thank the judges for time and attention after the question and answer session.

8 Pointers Less is better. Keep words to a minimum on visual aid.
Consider using alternates to powerpoint…photostory, prezi, etc. Have visual aid in multiple formats. SAVE. SAVE OFTEN. SAVE IN MORE THAN ONE PLACE. USE THE SAVE BUTTON. Check room earlier than the day before presentation.

9 Dress Code-Gentlemen:
NO Jewelry- no earrings or visible piercings. Pressed shirts and slacks, tie. Socks should match your pants or shoes- no white socks. A sportcoat or suit jacket would be awesome! Wear a belt, with your pants at your waist.

10 Ladies- Dress Code: No see-through blouses, too tight garments, NO LOW CUT TOPS-EVER! Skirts should be at the knee. Tasteful accessories-small simple (boring) jewelry. Do not over do it by wearing too many pieces. One or two will do. Do not wear heels that are extremely high. Platforms are NOT professional unless your profession involves a pole.
