EXAM STYLE QUESTION (write out and answer): Describe some of the evidence that tells us climate was different in the past. (4 marks) Now look at Figure 1 (Carbon dioxide and temperature levels over the last 800,000 years). On your copy of the graph, colour code the 2 line graphs – carbon dioxide in red and temperature in blue How many warm periods does it show and … … over how many years? What is the length of time between now and the previous warm period of time?......and the one before that … ..and the one before that.. Label the numbers 1 and 2 and explain what they mean, and how long they lasted. (Digby P 24 – 25) [text book question] Describe the variations in the temperature graph. Does the Earth warm up faster, or cool down faster? How closely are temperature and carbon dioxide levels linked? Look at the map of the ice sheets – Ice cover in the last ice age - (Figure 2). Which parts of the land were covered by ice 20,000 years ago, and are now ice free? What and when was the Quaternary period? [text book question] What is a climatologist? [text book question] Write out the ‘On your planet’ fact from P. 24.
