GDP growth and population growth
GDP growth is faster in low-income countries(Fg. 4.1) Will low-income countries catch up or “converge”? Population growth is faster in low-income countries (Fig. 4.1) Is GDP growing faster or slower than population? GDP per capita growth is slower in low-income countries (Fig. 4.1) Low-income countries are not converging, and the gap between rich and poor might be widening

GDP per capita growth rates vary across regions Fast growth in East Asia but slow growth in Sub-Saharan Africa (Map 4.1 and Fig 4.2) Figure 4.4 shows that the gap between developed and developing countries generally widened , EXCEPT for Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong Since 1995 Convergence has continued (has occurred?) in East Asia Dramatic convergence has begun in China and India Sub-Saharan Africa is falling further behind
