Step 4: Remove the pH sensor from the solution bottle that keeps it moist. Thoroughly rinse the pH electrode with DI water over a beaker. Always perform this step before measuring the pH of a new solution. Use a Chemwipe to gently rub off strong bases from the sensor’s electrode after rinsing it with DI water. Step 4: Remove the pH sensor from the solution bottle that keeps it moist. Thoroughly rinse the pH electrode with DI water over a beaker. Step 5: Place the sensor electrode into a buffer that has a pH of 4. Allow the voltage to stabilize to a reasonably constant value out to the hundredth place past the decimal. This may take seconds. Once this occurs, press the ENTER key. On the next screen, press the 4 key to input the pH of this buffer into the calculators memory. Press the ENTER Key again.
