Q&A
3
Overview October 13th - October 21st Goals: Survey results:
Instigate positive urban growth Enliven, accentuate, and improve built environment Interact meaningfully w/ community Survey results: More local & interactive 3D & Multidisciplinary Who has been to all the ELEVATE programs? Favorite? Proposals that speak to the mission and goals of ELEVATE will receive greatest attention SURVEY Result: Least favorite = 2-D Less workshops/panel discussions. However, there is a need for workshops and it’s a great place to recognize local arts leaders so while it is not desired OCA feels that they are necessary to bring attention to arts organizations and leaders.

Budget Per artwork: Curator: Max $10,000 Approximately 280 work hours
Creation Installation De-installation Curator: Approximately 280 work hours Compensation based on experience Give yourself a safety net. Over budget for items so that OCA will be able to cover all the proposed items. The more artwork under 10K will ensure that all pieces are included in the program. At least 15 works should be proposed. 20 works is ultimate goal. Being under the total artwork budget would be great! Curator payment = Half payment beginning and remaining balance after event close
5
Requirements Original theme & concept Utilization of survey results
Educational programming 30% GA art Identified locations Timeline of performances/events Weekly meetings Community engagement activities An original theme that will drive the promotion of the event and be distinctly different from the previous ELEVATE themes Take survey results from this presentation and incorporate them into your overall curatorial plan Programming that speaks to education, children, arts and economic development (this might be covered by panel discussions/workshops) To ensure that ELEVATE remains relevant to GA residents and artists there is a minimum requirement for local artists 20 total, THEN minimum of 6 from GA Have prospective locations identified within the proposal Consider times for performances that would attract greatest numbers to the performance/event (weekday lunch hour, after 6pm, OR on the weekend) Mandatory weekly meetings with myself and OCA staff Community engagement activities that will help you understand what the communities and neighborhoods in the area want from ELEVATE
6
Considerations All ages Challenges for sites
Collaborations & partnerships Light-sensitive works Consider the challenges of proposed artwork sites and suggested locations Partnerships and collaborations (e.g. Goat Farm collaboration during ELEVATE 2014 – Dumpster project) Consider light-sensitive works: which works will be visible during the day or only at night (e.g. light projections) Spread works accordingly
7
Considerations Performance space Collaborations Light sensitive
