What’s the Problem? From s people working or living there were exposed to drinking water contaminated with: -industrial solvent -benzene -other harmful chemicals People got sick and are still living with problems that were caused by the contaminated water

Impact on Humans Linked to birth defects
Many Veterans, Reservists, and National Guard members exposed to the water in Camp Lejeune developed serious illnesses such as: Adult Leukemia Myelodysplastic Syndromes Bladder cancer Liver Cancer Multiple myeloma Parkinsons So far, these have been the only affects proven with scientific and medical evidence, but it will continue to be reviewed.

One major story of the waters effects came from the death of Marine Master Sgt. Jerry Ensmingers nine year old daughter, Janey. In 1985, she passed away from a rare form of leukemia. Yes they are trying to remove significant and inefficient polluters

Remediation Slow response by marine leaders in early 1980’s.
Some drinking wells were closed in 1984 and 1985. The 2012 Camp Lejeune Health Care Law. -Applicable to veterans and their families who were there for a minimum of 30 days between January 1, 1957 and December 31, 1987.
