The libertarian party was formed in Colorado Springs in the home of Luke Zell by a group of individuals led by David Nolan on December 11, 1971.It was founded among membes of the committee on July 17th after several months of debate.
The formation was prompted by price control and the end of Gold standard.
The current candidate is Gary Johnson, who won 0.99% of the votes in the 2012 presidential campaign.He ran for president in the 2016 presidential campaign.
