What are the powers of the legislative branch?

In the U.S. Constitution, the legislative branch makes the laws and is made up of Congress (both the House of Representatives and Senate).

Congress has the power to do the following:

1. Regulate money and trade.
2. Tax to provide services.

3. Provide for national defense. 4. Declare war.

5. Override presidential vetoes.
Congress needs a 2/3rds vote in BOTH the HOUSE OF REPS. and the SENATE to override a presidential veto.
