2 E. coli & Salmonella All animals carry E. coli and some Salmonella in intestines Small % of eggs (1 in 20,000) may contain Salmonella enteritidis (SE) Fertile eggs used in project come from flocks that are routinely tested for any presence of SE

3 E. coli & Salmonella Most Salmonella infection cases come from food-borne sources (improper food handling) Bottom Line: Teach good hygiene (sanitation – wash hands) to reduce very small risk of Salmonella or E. coli infections

Strains of Bird Flu crossing over to humans in Asia are different form of AI People who died were in direct contact with infected birds They lived with birds and contracted disease by breathing in the virus
