Valentines assignment
As a group, come up with an original statement or pun that uses key terms, element names, or chemistry facts for a valentines card.(you don’t actually have to use it for the card you make) Individually, create a valentine card (or anti- valentine) to give to someone. You can google ideas for this one. Make sure to show me your valentine to receive credit. This is a grade!

Which of the following is the most metallic K, Fe, or I?
Wednesday February 17th, 2016 By the end of the day, Scholars will be able to: Starter: What types of elements would have the highest boiling points? What types of elements do not like to react? Why? What two groups on the periodic table are the most reactive? Why? Identify the trends of the periodic table. And answer a question like this: Which of the following is the most metallic K, Fe, or I? Diatomic Elements There are seven diatomic elements on the periodic table. Diatomic: two atoms These seven are N, O, F, Cl, Br, I, H We call this the NOF highway.
8
Liquids and Gases at room temperature
Elements that are liquid at room temperature Mercury and Bromine Elements that are gases at room temperature Hydrogen, Helium, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, Neon, Chlorine, Argon, Krypton, Xenon, Radon
9
Atomic Size The more positive the nucleus, the greater it pulls on the electron cloud, making the atom smaller. On the periodic table, atoms get smaller as you move from left to right across a period, and bigger as you move down a group.

She’s unhappy and negative.
Ions – memory aid? Here is a simple way to remember which is the cation and which the anion: + + This is Ann Ion. This is a cat-ion. She’s unhappy and negative. He’s a “plussy” cat!
11
Reactivity The most reactive metals are the largest since they are the best electron givers. The most reactive nonmetals are the smallest because they are the best electron takers.
