4 The CLOUD This is made possible through Cloud computing.
Very simply put, cloud computing provides resources through a web browser (Explorer, Foxfire, Safari) over the internet on demand. The network service at school is still very much computer hard drive and SERVER based. (CLICK for animation in slide). In cloud computing, the software or application no longer needs to be installed directly on the computer, but can be accessed on demand by internet web-access---through the cloud. Cloud computing could possibly be the future for computer networks. This permits users to actively use WEB 2.0 technology: we can not only go out on the internet and locate, read, & retrieve information, but can also write, create, publish and manage that information online. This is also known as the “read/write” web. Thus service is coming from the cloud to the user and from the user back to the cloud.

5 POSSIBILITIES FOR STUDENTS
POSITIVES CONSIDERATIONS Work with groups Share information Transfer documents teachers Organization Microsoft Applications Need access to internet Need hardware Digital citizenship Think about the possibilities for your school work, from communication, to collaboration on projects, to time management using the power of Outlook AND access to Microsoft applications. Of course, the user must have access to a computer or handheld device that can access the network. AND online behavior must be guided by appropriate use and good digital citizenship.

6 Microsoft Live@edu www.outlook.com
The component, is accessed though “outlook.com.” Outlook provides mail, interactive calendar, contacts, and organization tools.

7 SKYDRIVE www.outlook.com
To access the Microsoft Office applications you must be logged into Outlook and open the “Office” drop down menu. (Click to animate this slide) Notice the folder for groups. This could be used for group assignment to plan and share responsibilities. As a student, you could upload a document that you created at school into your SkyDrive account. You can retrieve the document off campus, edit, upload once again and retrieve at school for further work or printing. It is still a good idea to make a backup copy of your work.
