All purchasing done by departments Delivery to the department Contact Help Desk to get picked up and set up

Currently Microsoft SCCM Puts down image with Windows 7 64-bit + software Office Acrobat Filemaker Pro Then adds appropriate drivers for model Users have Administrator access

Record in Asset database Add additional software (SAP, statistical packages, etc.) Data transfer (manual, or USMT) Deliver to user and configure Outlook Certificates Printers

Laptops after 3 year, Desktops 3-4 years Wipe hard drives multiple times If donating, either go with blank hard drive or install with original image if requested Caveat – if client taking home to use for work May leave as is (discouraged) Tell them to bring back for disposal (do they? - not always and no way to track it after that) Tell them there’s no formal support after this (they don’t always hold to that)

Donate to organizations that contact us Clients ask for it back to donate Have MIT pick them up Trash – hard drives are wiped and/or shredded in this case

If machine is going to a temp, just add new account If it’s a new permanent employee Reimage the machine if possible Rename machine Get new IP and TSM If temp becomes permanent Just steps 2 & 3

Manual – Filemaker Pro database Advantages Can maintain history Capture nuances in notes (owned by faculty, in use by PhD, etc.) Disadvantages Hard to make sure things got recorded Missing data Updating records for transfers are often missed
