Enlightenment Enlightenment: An intellectual movement that challenged the “status quo (the way things were).” Focused on reason and science to prove it’s theories. Spread through books/pamphlets. Enlightenment was led by Philosophers called Philosophes writers, professors, journalist, economist and etc. mostly wealthy or from the middle class. The ideas of the Enlightenment influenced many Revolutions (England, American, French, & etc)
