How to learn in class Listening and note taking
Notetaking skills are positively related to academic achievement Academic listening is a special type of listening; the ability to capture and understand complicated information that is presented orally. You must be able to tune out distractions and tune in the lecture.

Basic strategies for academic listening
Intend – remind yourself of your goals Be ready – be physically and mentally ready for class Record –find a way to get the information; written, typed or recorded Refocus – find a way to get your attention back when you feel yourself begin to be distracted Connect – find a way to link the information to what you know or believe
