3 Abominate Definition- (v.) to have an intense dislike or hatred for
Synonyms- loathe, abhor, despise, detest Ex. I abominate cruelty yet do not always notice when I have said something cruel without meaning to.

5 Acculturation Definition- (n.) the modification of the social patterns, trait, or structures of one group or society by contact with those of another; the resultant blend. Synonyms- adaptation Ex.- Ever immigrant group newly arrived in another country goes through a slow process of acculturation.

8 Adventitious Definition- (adj.) resulting from chance rather than from an inherent cause or character; accidental, not essential Synonyms- extrinsic, incidental, fortuitous Ex.- It was no adventitious meeting that led to their writing songs together, for in fact they were cousins.

10 Ascribe Definition- (v.) to assign or refer to (as a cause or source), attribute Synonyms- impute, credit, attribute Ex.- You may ascribe these holes to gophers or elves, but I blame the dog from next door.

Synonyms- indirect, meandering, winding Ex.- I followed a circuitous path through the woods, not because I feared pursuit, but because I was lost.

Ex.- If left for a time, cider will eventually ferment.
