1 The Froet Drain® Roof Drain
Froet Standard Drains Froet Flow Sensors Roof Drainage Business Rethought

2 The Froet Drain® roof drain designed like no other roof drain
The industry’s original patented bi-functional roof drain and drain with vent

3 Froet Drain® roof drain
Cast Iron Fully cast one piece sump Powder coated finish Labor savings Roof penetration reduction Roof drainage simplified Most stoutly built roof drain on the market UPC and IPC Listed 25 Year Warranty Available

4 Superior Quality Cast iron construction for all parts (no plastic)
Powder coat finish exceeds the industry standard Superior quality will provide decades of service

5 Reduced Cost Half of the roof penetrations
Less labor cost not just from the plumber but from multiple trades $ to $ savings per roof drain location Reduced project cost now and for life of building at every reroof Durability prevents the need for drain replacement at reroof time. $ to $ possible cost per drain

6 Froet Advancements Largest bosses in the industry
Anti-seize pre-applied to drain ring bolts 1 ½” drain ring bolts and 1 ½” tapped bosses Smooth sump no obstructions Integral gravel stop on drain ring (used to be an industry standard, what happened?) Lowest height free area drainage in the industry it starts ¼” above the membrane Integrates with all roofing membranes and designs

7 Roof Drainage Location and elevation of overflow drain?
How often has your design not been correctly installed? It’s always as you specified it with FROET

8 Flow Characteristics We flow test our drains
Our published flow tests show superior flow with less head compared to standard drains and a primary system that reaches full capacity prior to overflow This provides the designer with a proper functioning drainage system

9 Horizontal Storm Drain Slope Per foot
Standard 6”Primary Drainage System Performance Calculations Measured 6” Flow Performance Plot to the right shows a measured performance curve for an industry standard 6” drain. A line at 2” illustrates the once accepted overflow drain height. Allowable Flow in G.P.M. Pipe Size Vertical Leader Horizontal Storm Drain Slope Per foot 1/8” 1/4” 1/2” 2 30 12 17 24 3 90 36 51 72 4 192 78 111 157 5 348 142 201 284 6 566 231 327 462 8 1220 498 705 996 10 2200 902 1275 1804 - 1467 2067 2934 15 2666 3776 5332 Required Overflow Height The primary drain can only develop a G.P.M. flow rate when the overflow drain is elevated by 2”. This flow rate does not even meet the 1/8” slope requirement of 231 G.P.M. An overflow height of 3.2” is required if this drain is used on a 1/8” slope rating. Greater height is required for higher flow ratings.

11 Is It Safe? An overflow drain that runs all the time is nothing more than another primary drain. Which leaves you with no overflow protection. A properly designed and built drainage system will work, an improperly built system may not .

12 Froet’s “MONGO” 8” Roof Drain
Froet is at the forefront of roof drain flow and durability We offer a 25 year warranty, which no one else in the industry offers The Mongo is the World’s largest 8” drain. With its 3rd party flow testing our roof drain is verified to flow 1700 GPM like no other drain Competitions 15” 8” drain fails at 900 GPM (third party testing) Froet’s “MONGO” ” Roof Drain

13 What You Need Quality products
Information on how those products perform Simplified designs Easy to understand installation Cost savings A company that stands 100% behind its products A design that is minimally affected by roofing membrane manufacturers drain detail requirements

14 Drain Restriction Roofing Manufacturers drain detail requirement:
Membrane must extend minimum 1” beyond the bolt holes, the clamping ring bolt must penetrate the membrane

15 Why are only some of these drains ponding?

16 This is why! Sumped installation Flush installation
If drain installation is such that it causes water to pond around the drain it will catch debris and cause drain blockage

17 Self-Cleaning technology
Old Style New Style

18 Cleaner drains Why has the industry retained the debris on the roof for all these years Smooth powder coat finish prevents the rust which provides tooth for debris to attach to Openings get progressively larger as the GPM increases

19 Roof Drain Finish Requirements
ASME A 5.3.2 Paint Coatings. Iron castings shall be cleaned and coated with a suitable paint, lacquer, or synthetic coating of quality to provide protection against rusting of ferrous surfaces during normal handling and warehousing prior to installation. Froet drastically exceeds this requirement and would be a little embarrassed to provide a finish for roof drains to the level required in the standard.

20 Industry First 2” overflow height in a single penetration roof drain with separate strainers as required by the plumbing code. 100C(3,4,5,6,8)ULP

21 Froet Primary drains Are built to the same standard – exceeding requirements as our 100C Bi-functional drains The primary drain is designed to intergrade into any roofing system or design So, when your project has a gravel stop perimeter or thru wall scupper for overflow protection, the Froet primary is the correct answer for your project

22 Green Roof? We feel that the green roof box is the only safe means of installing a roof drain into a green roof. It can be a 10,000% increase in free area using a green roof box over a drain with the perforated S/S applied directly to the drain. Perforated S/S requires 3 times the strainer free area to flow the same GPM.

23 Green Roof Box with Drainage Mat

24 Maintaining Flow This blockage happened in 20 minutes under ideal conditions, what would happen on a actual roof?

25 Froet Black Box Easy job site adjustability Fertilizer resistant
Lower cost than stainless steel Many Lid options Even 10,000 LBS rated lid Proven material for subsoil use

26 Froet Flow sensors Do you need to monitor for water and be notified or monitor for water and actuate a valve? If so then this is your answer.

27 Froet Flow sensors Low cost sensor
24/7/365 operation and notification when tied to a BMS Battery Back up to sustain operation during power outage Easy customized to your specific needs Overflow monitor, rainwater harvesting, Back flow preventer relieve valve monitor, water level monitor, etc… If you need to sense water and turn valves this is your low cost option
