1 Warm Up – day 2 Take out Homework from last night!

2 HW Check – Alg I Review

3 1.4 - Inequalities

4 Graph: X = 5 X < 5 X ≤ 5

5 Reminders Open Circle—NOT Equal Closed Circle—Equal
(<)Less Than : Shade  Left (>)Greater Than: Shade  Right

6 You Try! Graph:

7 Remember: When dividing each side by a negative number, the REVERSE the sign! 4 + 3(1 – 2x) > 37

8 You Try! Graph: -2x < 3(x-5)

9 No Solutions vs All Real Numbers
Some inequalities have no solution, and some are true for all real numbers. If the inequality you end with is always true, then all real numbers are solutions If the inequality you end with is always false, then it has no solution

10 You Try! Solve the inequality and graph the solution:
2x – 3 > 2(x – 5) 7x ≥ 7(2 + x)

11 Compound Inequalities
A pair of inequalities joined by AND or OR AND: Solution set makes both inequalities true OR: Solution set makes at least one inequality true

12 AND: Solution falls between your reference points
Solve and graph AND: Solution falls between your reference points

13 Solve and graph each inequality on the same number line
OR: Solution set falls in opposite directions of your reference points!

14 You Try! Solve each compound inequality and graph the solution
3x ≥ -12 and 8x ≤16 9x ≤ -27 or 4x ≥ 36

15 The length of a classroom is 25 ft
The length of a classroom is 25 ft. and its perimeter is less than 85 ft. Describe the width of the classroom.

16 Jim Halpert earns $200 plus a 5% commission of sales
Jim Halpert earns $200 plus a 5% commission of sales. Find the sales he needs to make to earn at least $500 dollars so he and Pam can go on a vacation.

17 Matching Activity – in groups
Matching Activity – in groups! - Work together and turn in when you are done!

18 Homework! Pages 29-30: 1-50, multiples of 5
QUIZ tomorrow! (Algebra I concepts – solving, simplying, evaluating)

19 Remind101 – free text reminders from your teacher where phone numbers are kept private.
If you want to receive these text reminders text (without quotes) to the number (240) 293 – 3610.

20 Exit Ticket Solve each inequality and graph the solution
2 – 3z ≥ 7(8 – 2z) + 12 3(4x – (2x – 7)) < 2(3x – 5) 6(5y – (3y – 1)) ≥ 4(3y – 7) z ≥ 6 No solution All Real Numbers
