Making the Connection:
Take your students to the Idaho Department of Labor Jobscape website.
Enter in a title of a position that relates to the courses you are teaching.

2. Here you will see a list of jobs that pertain to the title you chose.
Highlight how many different fields are available for this particular job title.
Students should be aware they have many options with the education from your course(s).
Select a title and click the Details tab for the next step.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page .
Here we can let students know that it is not necessary to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Ex. For this field a good percent of the employed were able to do so with an Associate degree.
Here we can promote Technical Colleges as routes to high wage / in-demand jobs, that provide
Certified individuals to the labor force in a shorter amount of time with less debt.

4. Secretaries and Administrative Assistants, Except Legal, Medical, and Executive
Job description
Perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to callers. Excludes legal, medical, and executive secretaries ( through ).
Here we see the varying pay scales for different levels of longevity / skill.
Students get a visual of where they want to be.

Dual Credit - DC
Academic courses such as English, Spanish, Science, etc.
Register with the corresponding college offering the DC before the class begins
$65 - Fast Forward Funds eligible
Grade & credits go directly on the respective college transcript and high school transcript affecting your GPA. Warning! If you do poorly or fail Dual Credit courses it can negatively affect your financial aid (FAFSA will not pay for remediation courses)

11. Advanced Opportunities
Technical Competency Credits – TCC Badges
Career & Technical skill based courses such as Culinary, Automotive, Welding, etc.
Register in SkillStack at the beginning of a CTE skill based course
After completing the TCC eligible badge requirements, the student can request the transfer of those credits earned in high school
Credits are purchased after students have enrolled in classes at a postsecondary college and identified that the college will accept the TCC credits as a benefit to the program of enrollment.

12. Ways TCC Credits & Badges Can Be Used
Credits are designed to help you enter and complete the corresponding college program by not having to retake classes you already took in high school, allowing you to finish a degree with less debt and enter a high demand - high paying job more quickly.
Badges can be used as proof of skills on resumes when applying for jobs.

Please remind students this registration is not an option, it is required
For schools and teachers to get proper funding for their programs, and for
Students to high share their skills with potential employers.
Students need to Select “Register”

16. Here we complete the student registration process:
After uploading your student Roster form info gathered from your administration
As described in your Approver guide as well by watching the Educator video
on the SkillStack homepage
Provide each student with their User name and EDUID (These are FERPA protected)
(this is entered in the State or Institution ID field)
Have them complete the rest of the fields, creating their own password.
If they would like to get info from any of the listed colleges, please have them select
As many as they would like.
If they chose the opt out feature – they will not be able to receive industry
notifications of job openings.

17. Now what?
Once you have competed the requirements for a Technical Competency Badge and you have enrolled in a postsecondary institution, you have the option of purchasing the TCC credits within two years of completing the TCC eligible badged course.
If it has been more than two years since completion of the TCC badge when you enroll in a postsecondary institution, then you have the option of requesting a Prior Learning Assessment to obtain the credits from the college you are applying for credits from.
