8 Variation in Region 9 Performance

9 Organ Donor Conversion Rate
CMS Eligible Death: Individual </= 75 years who is declared brain dead and does not exhibit any of the following indications: tuberculosis, HIV, Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease, herpetic septicemia, rabies, reactive hepatitis B surface antigen, any retrovirus infection, active malignant neoplasms, Hodgkin disease, multiple myeloma, leukemia, miscellaneous carcinomas, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, fungal and viral encephalitis, gangrene of bowel, extreme immaturity, or positive serological or viral culture findings for HIV. Eligible Donor: A donor whose death met the definition of eligible death. CMS Conversion Rate = Eligible Donors/Eligible Deaths Additional Potential/Donors: Individuals who are declared brain dead and >/= 76 years, and DCD Donors;

10 Donor Conversion Rates
347 Donors/ 573 Deaths (61% Conversion Rate) 458 Donors/1,272 Estimated Deaths (36% Conversion Rate) Organ Transplants Donors CMS Eligible Deaths Referrals to OPO In Hospital Deaths CMS eligible deaths and total actual donors from 2017 UNOS data. Estimated potential deaths estimated using 1/1/17-7/31/17 actual potential conversion rate for hospital systems with transplant centers in NY.

11 OPPORTUNITIES TO INCREASE DONATIONS Registry Enrollments

12 OPPORTUNITIES TO INCREASE DONATIONS

13 OPPORTUNITIES TO INCREASE DONATIONS Organs Transplanted per Donor
Organs transplanted per donor (OTPD): Total number of organs transplanted divided by the number of donors, not limited to eligible deaths.

14 Improvements in Registry Enrollments, Conversion Rates & Organs Transplanted per Donor will help Close the Gap Waitlist 3/2018 Hearts Lung Kidneys Livers Other 370 67 7,897 1,081 349

15 Region 9 Collaborative Goals
Increase Eligible Donor Conversion Rate: Baseline 61.6% Increase Total Donor Conversion Rate: Baseline 36% Increase Transplanted Organs per Donor: Baseline 2.77
